We’ve done it … another part of the park has been converted as we work to remove cages!
Welcome to our Busy Beaks walkthrough Aviary. Rueben, Lulu and Chilli & Pepper have been released into the open Aviary and are busy exploring.
We have left their cages in the Avairy as a safe and familiar shelter for them to retreat to if they wish but they now have the ability to fly freely throughout the whole of the aviary. They can build wing strength, forage for food and have endless entertainment (if they wish)
We have to thank some of the ladies from the village too who kindly gave us plants which we have used to fill the Avairy. Ladies - you know who you are! You are amazing and we love you!
We have planted a range of hedging, climbers, herbs and fruit that the parrots can eat to have vital minerals and vitamins.
There is still a lot of work to do planting, growing on, installing nest boxes, putting up new perches, scratch pads and feed stations and of course we intend to release more caged birds.
We can quite honestly say it’s now one of our favourite places in the park.
